If the Initiative Token shows its blue side only squadrons with their activation slider set to blue can be activated.

After determining initiative the first player and takes the initiative token. He places it next to his edge with the blue side faceup. Both players set the activation slider of each squadron to display the matching blue end.
- A squadron cannot activate if the color and icon of its activation slider do not match the initiative token.
- At the end of status phase, the first player flips the initiative token to its other side
